A crewed yacht charter in Croatia means you charter a yacht with a professional Captain, and usually a host or chef, who sail, cook and look after the yacht. You choose the islands and the pace; the crew handle navigation, mooring and meals, so nobody in your group needs sailing experience.
A crewed charter means you rent a yacht together with a professional crew: typically a skipper, and depending on the yacht a hostess, chef and deckhand. You relax while the crew handles the sailing, navigation and onboard service.
Start with a free 45-minute video call with the Captain. Tell him your dates, group size, budget and the kind of week you want, and within 24 hours you get a hand-picked shortlist of yachts. You pay the same price as booking direct, and the contract and payment go to the licensed charter operator.
No. On a crewed charter the skipper handles everything. You do not need a sailing licence or any prior experience. You simply enjoy the holiday.
The yachts available for charter in Croatia range from luxury motor yachts to comfortable sailboats, motor boats, catamarans and traditional gulets, accommodating different group sizes and preferences.
Typically the yacht and its crew. Extras such as fuel, food and drinks, marina fees during the trip and optional activities are usually arranged separately. We explain exactly what is and is not included before you commit.
Catamarans suit families who want space and stability, gulets suit larger groups who want room to spread out, and motor yachts cover more islands in less time. Sailing yachts suit couples and small groups who enjoy the feel of sailing. The Captain helps you choose on the free call.
It depends on the yacht. Our examples sleep between 8 and 12 guests across four to six cabins. We will match the right yacht to the size of your group.
No. On a crewed charter the Captain holds the licences and is responsible for the yacht, so no one in your group needs a sailing licence or experience. A licence is only needed on a bareboat charter, where you sail the yacht yourselves.
We arrange crewed charters across the Mediterranean and Adriatic, including Croatia, Greece, the French Riviera, the Amalfi Coast, the Balearics and Turkey.
Croatia offers many spectacular sailing destinations, including the Dalmatian Coast, Hvar, Split, the Kornati Islands and the island of Vis, each with its own unique charm and attractions.
The best yachts for peak summer weeks are reserved early, often months ahead. That said, we can frequently find excellent last-minute availability. Start with a video call and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Croatia’s sailing season is generally from May to October, with the peak season from June to August, when the weather is warmer and the seas calmer.
Charters are usually secured with a deposit and the balance paid before departure. Cancellation terms vary by yacht and season; we walk you through the exact terms in plain language before you book.
Yacht charter packages vary, but often include yacht charter, a professional crew (if desired), safety equipment, navigational aids, and sometimes extras like water toys and Wi-Fi.
Yes. Tell the Captain which islands, beaches, restaurants and activities you want, such as snorkelling, swimming stops or exploring old towns, and he plans the route around your wishes and the weather. The route stays flexible during the week.
Additional costs may include fuel, mooring fees, supplies, tourist taxes and optional extras such as meals on board, excursions and water sports equipment hire.
On the free 45-minute video call, the Captain asks about your group, dates, budget and the kind of week you want, and answers your questions about yachts, routes and costs. Within 24 hours you get a hand-picked shortlist of yachts, at the same price as booking direct.
No. On a crewed charter the licensed skipper is responsible for the vessel, so guests need no qualifications or experience. Only bareboat charters require the charterer to hold a recognised skipper’s licence and a VHF radio certificate.
Croatian charters run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in around 17:00 and check-out by 09:00. In July and August this is effectively the only pattern; in shoulder months some fleets will agree flexible start days.
Split Airport (SPU) serves most charter bases — Trogir is about 15 minutes away and Split harbour about 30. Use Dubrovnik (DBV) for southern routes, Zadar (ZAD) for the Kornati, and Pula (PUY) for Istria.
Croatia has used the euro and been part of the Schengen area since 1 January 2023, so most European visitors need no border formalities and no currency exchange. Non-EU travellers follow standard Schengen visa rules.
The Adriatic averages around 18 °C in May, reaches 25 °C or more in August, and stays pleasantly warm into early October. Southern Dalmatia runs two to three degrees warmer than the northern coast.
Croatia charges a sojourn tax of €1.33 per person per night aboard charter vessels; guests aged 12–18 pay half and children under 12 are exempt. Your operator normally registers guests and settles it for you.
Yes. Kornati National Park charges a per-vessel ticket, cheaper when bought online before entry, and Mljet and Krka charge per person. Your crew handles tickets as part of the day’s plan.
The bura is mainly a winter wind. Summer bursts happen but are usually short and well forecast, and the strongest zones — like the Velebit Channel — sit away from the main charter routes. Your skipper plans each day around the forecast.
Yes — Croatia is one of the easiest places in Europe for a first crewed charter. Hops between islands are short, the channels are sheltered, and there is a harbour, beach or restaurant within reach every day.
May, June and late September into October are the value months: base rates sit below peak-season levels, marinas are quieter, and the weather is still reliable. July and August command the highest rates.
Most Croatian charters begin in Split, Trogir, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Šibenik or Pula. Central Dalmatia — Split and Trogir — has the largest fleet and puts Brač, Šolta, Hvar and Vis within a day’s sail.
Yes. The Blue Cave is on Biševo, a short hop from Vis, and most week-long central-Dalmatia routes can include it. Entry is ticketed and by licensed local boats, best visited in the morning light.
A gulet is a traditional wooden motor-sailer with a larger crew and a relaxed, all-inclusive pace, meals usually cooked aboard. A catamaran offers wide deck space, shallow draft for quiet bays, and a more hands-on itinerary.
The best crewed yachts for July and August are reserved many months ahead, so early booking gives the widest choice. Shoulder-season weeks and last-minute gaps do appear — a quick call tells you honestly what is available.
