Charters are usually secured with a deposit and the balance paid before departure. Cancellation terms vary by yacht and season; we walk you through the exact terms in plain language before you book.

No. On a crewed charter the licensed skipper is responsible for the vessel, so guests need no qualifications or experience. Only bareboat charters require the charterer to hold a recognised skipper’s licence and a VHF radio certificate.

Croatian charters run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in around 17:00 and check-out by 09:00. In July and August this is effectively the only pattern; in shoulder months some fleets will agree flexible start days.

Split Airport (SPU) serves most charter bases — Trogir is about 15 minutes away and Split harbour about 30. Use Dubrovnik (DBV) for southern routes, Zadar (ZAD) for the Kornati, and Pula (PUY) for Istria.

Croatia has used the euro and been part of the Schengen area since 1 January 2023, so most European visitors need no border formalities and no currency exchange. Non-EU travellers follow standard Schengen visa rules.

The Adriatic averages around 18 °C in May, reaches 25 °C or more in August, and stays pleasantly warm into early October. Southern Dalmatia runs two to three degrees warmer than the northern coast.

Croatia charges a sojourn tax of €1.33 per person per night aboard charter vessels; guests aged 12–18 pay half and children under 12 are exempt. Your operator normally registers guests and settles it for you.

Yes. Kornati National Park charges a per-vessel ticket, cheaper when bought online before entry, and Mljet and Krka charge per person. Your crew handles tickets as part of the day’s plan.

The bura is mainly a winter wind. Summer bursts happen but are usually short and well forecast, and the strongest zones — like the Velebit Channel — sit away from the main charter routes. Your skipper plans each day around the forecast.

Yes — Croatia is one of the easiest places in Europe for a first crewed charter. Hops between islands are short, the channels are sheltered, and there is a harbour, beach or restaurant within reach every day.

May, June and late September into October are the value months: base rates sit below peak-season levels, marinas are quieter, and the weather is still reliable. July and August command the highest rates.

Most Croatian charters begin in Split, Trogir, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Šibenik or Pula. Central Dalmatia — Split and Trogir — has the largest fleet and puts Brač, Šolta, Hvar and Vis within a day’s sail.

Yes. The Blue Cave is on Biševo, a short hop from Vis, and most week-long central-Dalmatia routes can include it. Entry is ticketed and by licensed local boats, best visited in the morning light.

A gulet is a traditional wooden motor-sailer with a larger crew and a relaxed, all-inclusive pace, meals usually cooked aboard. A catamaran offers wide deck space, shallow draft for quiet bays, and a more hands-on itinerary.
